A Day of Safety

On Oct. 12, OARS joined the Northeastern Police Department (NUPD), University Health and Counseling Services (UHCS) and countless other safety-driven organizations at Northeastern’s Preparedness Day. Other Preparedness Day events included basic self-defense course taught by NUPD, Phishing Preparedness Training by the Office of Information Security,  and a speech from the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Community Outreach Specialist, Brian O’Keefe.

The event was held on the second floor of the Curry Student Center and promoted safety, community, and preparedness. OARS tabled at the event and handed out first-aid kits, buttons, magnets, and candy to passing students. Our team helped to raise awareness about the importance of academic and research safety by conversing with students and faculty.

If you want to visit OARS at Northeastern’s next Preparedness Day, the event is hosted biannually. Come see us next time at the 2024 Spring semester’s Preparedness Day!
