From February 12-16, OARS joined CSHEMA in a celebration of safety for Lab Safety Awareness week. The weeklong event served to foster a healthy and safe laboratory environment for Northeastern’s lab community by educating and raising awareness about lab safety. Participants attended a “Safety Risk & Resiliency in the Lab” seminar led by Andrea Voehringer, the Director of OARS. During the Chemical Inventory Superuser Workshop, attendees further developed their advanced skills in chemical inventory management and reconciliation. Finally, the end of Lab Safety Awareness Week was celebrated with the announcement of Lab Safety Superhero Awards given to those who were nominated by PIs and fellow lab members in recognition for promoting safety practices, implementing innovative safety measures, consistently caring about the well-being of their colleagues, and for their commitment to fostering a positive culture of safety in the lab.
