Introducing Andrea Voehringer, New Director of OARS

Welcome Andrea Voehringer!

We pleased to announce the appointment of Andrea Voehringer, MEng, CSP, as OARS Director  effective October 24, 2022.  Andrea is charged with planning, advocating, problem-solving, and driving efforts to enhance overall quality and execution of safety programs for the Boston-area campuses.

Andrea comes to Northeastern from The Charles Stark Draper Laboratory in Cambridge, MA, where she served as the EHS Director and RSO. At Draper she led  a team of multi-disciplinary EHS professionals that collaborate with organizational stakeholders and PIs to ensure a workplace that exceeds safety expectations, and to define acceptable risk for novel research and production workflows in the fields of Biomedical Solutions, Human-Centered Solutions, Materials Engineering & Microfabrication, Microsystems, Fault-tolerant Systems, Image & Data Analytics, Autonomous Systems, Positioning, Navigation & Timing, Precision Instrumentation, Secure & Assured Systems.

Andrea has over twenty years of safety experience in private industry as well as higher education. Her experience is broad and covers safety program execution associated with process safety, biosafety (at the BSL-3 level), radiation safety, chemical hygiene, industrial hygiene, controlled substance use, human subject research, emergency preparedness, waste management and environmental compliance. Our gratitude to Peter Schneider, as well, for his notable contributions as Interim Director.
